You’ll begin your Wilmington Invisalign process in-person at our conveniently located office!
At your first visit, Dr. Matsumoto will complete a thorough, complimentary exam. This exam includes an assessment of your current smile with diagnostic photos and X-rays.
Once your exam is complete and treatment is deemed necessary or beneficial, your Invisalign journey begins! Dr. Matsumoto will take digital images of your smile, using the comfortable iTero® scanner. This modern system creates precise images of your teeth and gums in only a few minutes.
Dr. Matsumoto will use your images to create your custom Invisalign aligners.
Your Invisalign treatment will be completed in stages. During each stage, you’ll receive aligners custom-made to fit your smile. One aligner will be made for your top teeth and the other for your bottom teeth. You’ll wear your first set of aligners for one to two weeks, at least 20 to 22 hours each day.
After the first one or two weeks, you’ll begin wearing your second set of custom aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day. (Throughout every stage, you’ll always be instructed to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day.)
Every one to two weeks, you’ll replace your current aligners with a new set of aligners. Each set of aligners is specially designed to apply the perfect amount of pressure to your teeth to shift them closer to the ideal end position. How long you wear each set of aligners will depend on your custom treatment plan.
